RIVER TERMINAL – GRIMSBY
Design and construction of a Roll on–Roll off terminal in the River Humber outside the entrance to Grimsby Docks for importing cars from mainland Europe. The new facility accommodates vessels of up to 165m in length and 26m beam with an operating draft of 7.1m.
Installation of 165 large diameter tubular steel piles, varying in diameter from 762mm up to 1420mm dia, 30 of which are raking piles. Pile lengths are up to 38m, with embedment of up to 27m in places.
Floating concrete pontoon, 80m x 30m x 5m deep, constructed in a dry dock in Newcastle
- Finger pier extending from floating pontoon
- Floating pontoon to allow vehicles to turn on when they are loading / unloading
- A piled approach jetty and 70m linkspan to provide access between the approach jetty and the pontoon at all tides
- A 250m long approach jetty
